Brunello di Montalcino is some kind of miracle which has a lot of talks around it. The earliest record of Brunello belongs to 14th century and connected with marchese Cosimo Ridolfi, who praised it as the best Tuscany red wines. Later on in 1888 the first “modern version” of Brunello was released by Ferruccio Biondi Santi and this time it was barreled over decade.

After 1945 Brunello di Montalcino is becoming like “Ferrari” in the world of wine. By that time the only name which figures in all official documents is Biondi Santi; launching that time four vintages 1888, 1891, 1925 and 1945. Later on other producers start to appear and by today we have almost 240 producers of Brunello di Montalcino.

So what is so special about Brunello di Montalcino?

Brunello di Montalcino is produced from 100% Sangiovese grape in the area of Montalcino, aged in wood normally 36 months and in bottles for other 4 month before to come in sale for regular Brunello and 6 months for the Riserva. This wine is characterized by strong flavor, which may vary from fruity to cigar and woody one and intense brownish color. Brunello di Montalcino has to be kept at least for 3-4 years after the wine was bottled, although some people find it amazing already after a year or two.

What is the best bottle of Brunello? This is a good question , the answer to which you can find out only by yourself tasting different producers and catching the one you will fall in love for ever.
