Rosso di Montalcino DOC is so called youngest “brother” of Brunello di Montalcino. Rosso di Montalcino is made from 100% Sangiovese grape in the same region as Brunello di Montalcino and aged usually for 12 months.

Rosso di Montalcino is characterized as lighter and fresher then Brunello, although some producers, like Biondi Santi, Poggio di Sotto,Salvioni,Sesti has amazing product very similar to Brunello aged for 24 months. If Brunello wine is recommended to be kept at least for 2-3 years after it was bottled, Rosso di Montalcino has to be drunk the same year or a year later. T
