WINEBRUNELLO had presented for tasting wines of Montalcino's small producer Collemattoni: Rosso di Montalcino 2011, Brunello di Montalcino 2008, 2007 и 2004 and its amazing Riserva Fontelontano 2006.
Our Wine Club members are already familiar with this producers. for the one who had mo chance to taste his wines just a few words about him; Collemattoni is a smaill family runned winery, yearly he produces 25.000 bottles of Brunello di Montalcino, 25.000 Rosso di Montalcino, 10.000 IGT and only the best vintages Riserva Fontelontano. It's vineyards are situated next to St. Angelo, just in a few kilometers from Montalcino. The basic Brunello di Montalcino is aged not less then 36 months in the barrels of Slovenian oak of 32 gltrs and at least 6 months in the bottle. Rosso di Montalcino is aged as well in Slovenian oak for 12 months and at least 4 months in the bottle. Ageing for Brunello Riserva Fontelontano is different, it starts in french barriques and continues its aging in Alovenian oak not less then 36 months and ends its aging in the bottle for at least 10 months.
Russian sommelliers particularly noted the basic Brunello di Montalcino 2008 and 2007, and were impressed by the magnificent rich bouquet of the Brunello Collemattoni vintage 2004, which is almost ready to drink now, although a couple of years will add softness and velvet to this gorgeous wine. Riserva Fontelontano made definately furore although this wine is still very young. Beautiful aroma, complex structure and long after tasting were appreciated by russian wine lovers. Rosso di Montalcino was mentioned as the best through the prersented ones dor wine tasting.
Every year Collemattoni surprises us by its unforgettable bouquet and rich texture.
We do really hope to see these wines in wine stores in Russia soon.
